Marcus Mitchell stone MasonMarcus Mitchell - Stone Mason
Educated at Dauntseys school on the edge of Salisbury plain, and with Stonehenge and Avebury on his doorstep Marcus developed a passion for stone and its place in the landscape. He then went on to do a degree in Geology at Kingston Polytechnic as it was then. Becoming disillusioned with geology as an outlet for his creative instincts he went on to work for a small local builder, starting as a labourer he developed an interest in working on old buildings. Keen to learn more he went on a ‘working with lime' course with SPAB, did a dry stone walling course with BCTV and 3 years at Bath Stone Masonry college to gain his NVQs. It was there that he met his colleague Hugh.
